So many people in our communities have no idea about where our water really comes from. They do know that over summer we need to be more mindful of our usage, but probably aren’t really exactly sure why. For them, they turn the tap, and out it flows.

But if only they knew – about the wonderful and precious taonga that flows right beneath their feet, the journey that each and every drop has been on to get into their pool or their cup of tea, how lucky we are to have this freshwater resource, and why the balance and monitoring of our water usage and flow is so important to us all.

In this approach, we encourage our people to really get to know our water – to gain a greater understanding and build a better relationship with our unique resource, how we use water, and why we need to look after it here in Hawke’s Bay, through a communications campaign stretching across digital, print, bus backs, billboards, and social media.
